Check out these wall appliques from Roommates…
To create a unique Harry Potter inspired space, start with walls painted a mystical purple like– Benjamin Moore’s Enchanted 2070-50
If you are feeling brave, like Harry, paint the ceiling– Benjamin Moore’s Wrought Iron 2024-10
If you are lucky enough to have stained woodwork in the room, you are set. If not feel free to paint the trim the same as the ceiling. If dark trim isn’t your thing you can always paint it Misty Gray 2124-60 for a softer look.
For added magic, mix equal parts latex glaze and Misty Memories 2118-60, and paint soft swirls on the upper walls blending up onto the ceiling. Don’t be too fussy and I like a 1″ brush for this type of technique. You can add a little if the deep gray to shade the color or add white to lighten as you paint the swirls. I try to have a couple of plastic containers handy for mixing the various shades.

Every Hogwart needs a ‘Hedwig’ umbrella stand to hold their magic wands.
By mixing a few simple pieces you won’t feel like you took the Harry Potter theme too far. And when your teen outgrows the look, you can simply repaint the walls. Nothing too difficult about that- especially when you shop at Seven’s.
(I am just thankful my own Hogwart fan isn’t into “Twilight”. I don’t think I could handle a Vampire themed room!)
