My Corona

Cue the music, please….

M, M, M, My Corona!

Ooh my little painting brush, painting brush, cuttin’ in such a straight line– Corona!!

Ooh you make my motor run, motor run, runnin’ down the trim and the wall– Corona!

Never gonna stop, give you up.  My My My I yi yi Woo!

Okay, okay.  I should have been wearing my ipod rather than filling the silence in my head with crazy songs about paint brushes.  (No, it wasn’t the paint fumes either–Aura is too low in VOC’s.)   But when one finds a tool that makes one look like a professional (when one’s painting skills sometimes mirror that of a 2 year old)  one gets a bit excited!

If you have never tried a good paint brush you are missing out on the chance to wow everyone with your ‘mad’ painting skills.   I have used brushes from several manufacturers and have yet to find one that rivals my Corona.  It is the kind of brush you don’t ever want to loan out because you may never get it back.  It is the kind of brush that you want to take extra special care of to keep it extra nice for painting with later.  It is the kind of brush which has its own special place in my heart and its own special place in my paint tool box.  It is the kind of brush that inspires songs (at least out of a wacky painting-addicted girl)

So what makes this brush so special?  Well Corona makes quite a few paint brushes.  And they are all special for different reasons.  I have tried the Excalibur:

An excellent brush made with Dupont Chinex bristles, hand chiseled for sharp cut in.  Holds a ton of paint so you spend less time dipping in the bucket.  Works great for all paints but particularly acrylic and heavier bodied waterborne paints…

And I have tried the  Cortez:

Another great brush with nylon and polyester bristles which clean up very easily…I love this one for exterior painting because it doesn’t get too floppy when the humidity is high.

But my favorite brush of all, The Vegas!

This brush is amazing.  It is a blend of softer synthetic filaments for a little more give when applying trim paints.  It tops off paint like a dream!  No more scratchy brushstrokes left in the final coat.   Plus it really holds paint and cleans up easily.  It has that ‘broken in’ feel and is very comfortable to use.

When it is time to purchase paint and a paint brush for your next project remember that having a quality paint brush can make the difference between a so-so looking job and a more professional looking one.

In the mean time My Corona and I will keep painting away (and working on a catchy little tune about my Wooster Pro DooZ Covers)…stay tuned!!
